Small Laptops for Businessman or Students

Whether you are a small businessman or a college student, small laptops are practical and convenient for all your needs.  Hauling a large computer to classes or traveling with one on business trips just doesn’t work.    

Fortunately most computer brands now offer several portable as well as durable models to choose from. These super-compact, ultra thin small laptops are designed with the business traveler in mind.  Computer technology has created smaller hardware making it possible for the smaller computer to be just as techno packed as a larger desktop.

These small laptops are also great for students to have access to all their class work no matter where they are. A student could take their laptop to the library, coffee house or friends home or dorm room and be able to get all their assignments completed.   

Most of us have flown on an airplane and sat next to an annoying passenger who is trying to balance their huge laptop on the tiny tray in front of them.  You may have a long jaunt to your job or college classes on board the local community transportation network with lots of time to get some business or schoolwork done.  Small laptops are great for these situations.

ASUS Eee PC 904HA

These small laptops are a value especially for students or small business on a budget.  They list for as little as $350.  The pluses for this model are that it has a 160GB hard drive and three USB ports.  On the negative side it is slightly weightier and does not have a DVD drive.

HP Mini (AKA 2113)

These small laptops have been specifically created for the traveling population. It has an aluminum shell, titanium chasis, HP3D sever service hard drive and a moisture-resistant keyboard.  This is the smallest of the three and is only outmatched in thinness by the Mac Air. It is also a great value with a price tag around $750.   

Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-S1001X

The Toshiba is probably one of the sturdiest and most durable small laptops. This computer is priced in the neighborhood of $800.  It has the ability to charge USB devices like an iPod even while shut down but plugged into an outlet.

Apple MacBook MB061LL/B

This Apple MacBook has made our list of small laptops even though it is the largest, heaviest and not quite as suitable for taking on business trips.  This computer is for the laptop crowd that has a need for a bigger screen.  With its nearly $970 price tag, it is not quite as affordable as the others. One important feature for our laptop travelers is that it can find and connect to Wi-Fi in almost any location.

Now you have an idea of what type small laptops are currently on the market.  Before you make a final decision, read some laptop reviews, do some price comparisons online or look in the local paper.  Talk to someone you know who may already own a small, portable computer to see how satisfied they are with the performance and travel-ability.
